How to Make the Most of a Kids RV Bedroom
RV Master Turned Kids Bunk Room
We knew early on as we were preparing to move into the RV full time, that the kids were going to have the master in our toy hauler and that we would convert the garage to be our new master and office. This was our third RV and we had an idea of the kids of layout we wanted and needed. We knew that we needed a space where we could close the door for some alone time, and also that the kids could go to bed at night and we could still use the living area.
When the RV was delivered to our front door, we already had a plan in place that we needed to accomplish in a number of weeks. We had done a lot of measuring and planning to make sure that we could fit the kids three beds comfortably into the room. We started by taking out the master bed right away. We did keep the end section in order to cover the cords that allow the slide to move in and out. This was mounted where the crib would sit, near where the head of the bed used to be.
Now we had to find beds for all three kids and in came IKEA and Facebook Marketplace to the rescue. We bought an ikea bunk bed and crib from Facebook Marketplace. For the kids' bunk we had to make them a little smaller both in length and width. Unfortunately we did not document this crazy stage of the build, but it took a LOT of measuring. Malvin did all the cutting, built the bunk in the house, labeled everything, we tore it down and built it again in the kids room. After the bunk was built we bolted the bunk bed to where the bed used to be.
Then the fun began. All of the touches to make the room feel homey! Decor! We added wallpaper, book storage, toy storage, pictures and cute bedding. The room had to be cozy and multi purpose to fit three kids!
